Satisfaction Is Its Own Reward

AFTER 18 years in Newcastle it is more than reasonable to suggest that Williams The Jewellers has become something of an institution.
Manufacturing jeweller Mark Williams is following in a family tradition. His father began the business in Sydney more than two decades ago. Now Mr Williams and his wife Vanessa head up Williams The Jewellers/Kasumba at The Junction. They took over the established Kasumba store in January 2006 and, a year later, merged both operations. The union meant a wide range of jewellery available from the one shop everything from contemporary off-the-shelf to top-dollar personally designed and made. "We've got a contact in Antwerp, Belgium, where we source good-quality diamonds at the right price," Mr Williams said. "We've also got a good contact for tanzanite an increasingly rare and popular purple/blue gem. "And our Tahitian pearl range is very popular." But success in a competitive field was about more than having the right stock, Mr Williams said. "We're strong believers in customer service and that means we're dedicated to giving our customers the very best in service and value. We want to give the best of everything . . . style, substance and savings on time and money." The Williams team effort is not only appreciated by customers but also recognised by the industry. As members of the Jewellery Association Australia, the business has been named National Award-Winning Jewellers a total of five times. Along the way there has also been a swag of other awards. Last year Williams The Jewellers was a state finalist in the NSW Business Awards. "If you put the effort into it the recognition and awards will follow," Mr Williams said.
